Southern Safety Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Safety Director
BASE: Southeastern states where Villager operates such as NC, SC, TN, GA, AL
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Southern Safety Coordinator is responsible for enforcing company safety procedures, reporting and documenting incidents and accidents, jobsite safety assessments and procurements of proper PPE. Works closely with and maintains constant communication with Safety Director and Operations management. The Southern Safety Coordinator must take a leadership role in promoting our Safety Culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Job duties include but are not limited to the following
Conduct regularly scheduled job-site safety observations throughout multiple states including NC, SC, TN, GA, AL. Nighttime and weekend work may be required, including overnight travel
Maintain daily work logs
Attend pre-project safety walks and inspections
Analyze and determine jobsite safety risks
Educate employees on safety expectations
Educate employees on safe machinery operations and traffic control
Provide recommendations for improving jobsite safety
Report incidents and accidents to the Safety team
Maintain documentation for incidents and accidents
Provide proper PPE to field employees
Enforce Villager’s safety procedures and client/project safety policies
Assist in planning and execution of annual Southern Safety Meeting
Virtually attend and contribute to monthly safety committee meetings
Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, claims and complaints regarding unsafe or unhealthy working conditions or practices
Ensure required incident information is collected and submitted timely
Analyze inspection and incident information to identify causes and trends, in order to develop preventive or corrective practices
Maintain knowledge of current OSHA and industry standards, regulations, and construction safety practices and policies
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and have the ability to adjust to changing situations
Strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking
Strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to interact with both office and field personnel effectively
Must be able to work independently with limited supervision while still being a team player
Requires an initiative to improve safety practices when identified
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
At least five years in Construction safety and/or management experience or an Associate’s degree
Demonstrates commitment to continuing education in safety training in following competencies: Work Zone Traffic Control, excavation, rigging, fall protection, scaffolding, hazmat, confined space, air quality, personal protection equipment/clothing
Certifications to teach First aid, ATSSA, or other Construction related topics a plus
Computer Proficient in Microsoft office
Familiarity with B2W or other construction software a plus
LICENSES/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
OSHA 10-hour certification minimum, OSHA 30 preferred
Valid driver’s license
PAY RANGE: $65,000 - $80,000 /yr
